started to get tiredMy job as a nurse involved working 20 hours a week during daytime hours and then 13 hours in the evening a week. It was a physical and high pressured job.I dropped to 20 hours a week as my knees were hurting from kneeling down a lot, having to bandage leg ulcers, for example.
I eventually ended up retiring from the NHS completely earlier this year as it was putting more work on me and the rest of the nurses.I now work in a wholesale haberdashery store, still earning £10.50 an hour for 10 hours a week. It is something I really enjoy but I do have to work to make more money.
I also do craft stalls, alongside my part-time job, which tops my money up. If I didn’t do that, I don’t know how I would survive. When I was 56, I received a letter to say that the age to claim my state pension had moved to 66 which worried my greatly as I was already finding work tiring by this point.
