Ofgem said it was 'extremely concerned' that vulnerable residents have been left without heating for more than a week in the middle of a below-freezing cold snap
: “At first it was alright, as we had the residual heat in the house. We all huddled in together and watched the England game on Sunday night. We’ve been having to buy takeaways because we can’t cook.
“But as the week went on it became properly cold. We were able to manage by being in one room with two or three electric heaters, but we were far from warm.”No longer able to bear the cold after three days without heating, the family went to stay with Phillipa’s parents in Grenoside, five miles away, on Tuesday.
Yorkshire Water’s director of water, Neil Dewis, was confronted by an angry resident on Thursday afternoon. Lyndsey Hudson told Mr Dewis that Cadent and the other agencies involved had provided “brilliant” help but Yorkshire Water had not listened to her pleas.
