The First Minister has faced repeated calls from opposition parties to prioritise government investment in Scotland's longest road.
Humza Yousaf has made a "crystal clear" commitment that his government will dual the A9 from Perth to Inverness.
Unveiling his Programme for Government for the year ahead, the First Minister said: "Alongside our record investment in active travel, we’ll reopen the Levenmouth rail line, electrify the Glasgow to Barrhead line and open a new rail station at East Linton. "And let me be crystal clear, this government, my government, will dual the A9 from Inverness to Perth.
