About 100 households lost water service after a leak at Tidwell Road and Antoine Drive on Monday.
More than 100 homes likely have lost water service because of a"huge leak" at Tidwell Road and Antoine Drive in northwest Houston, District A Councilmember Amy Peck said.
The leak was discovered around 4 p.m. Monday, according to Peck, whose district includes the neighborhood. Peck said some residents are without water, and more are experiencing a loss in pressure.Public Works crews are at the scene now working on an"emergency repair," said Erin Jones, spokesperson for Houston Public Works.
Ron Delaney, the president of the Antoine Forest Estates Civic Association, said water flow is very weak in the neighborhood. He estimated hundreds of homes are experiencing that issue. "It's a trickle, you can't take a shower, you can't do anything," Delaney said. Residents first noticed the street issues on Sunday, he said, but there was no apparent leak until about 4 p.m. Monday.
City 311 data shows a spike in calls for water leaks and water service. There were 155 reports of water leaks and 116 requests for water service Monday, up from 99 and 13 the day before, respectively.
