The ceremony included remarks by Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Jersey City Deputy Police Chief Nicola Flora and Cathy McBride, whose son, Melvin Santiago, was killed in the line of duty in 2014.
Jersey City officials, police and community members gathered Tuesday morning in Liberty State Park to honor fallen police officers and salute the current officers participating in the 26th annual national Police Unity Tour.
The Jersey City Police Department Cycling Team raised $85,000 this year and has raised more than $1 million since 2005.
