The canceled Jurassic Park 4 had a bizarre premise, but it'd oddly make for the perfect Jurassic World Dominion follow-up.
Following the first three Jurassic World movies, the perfect idea for Jurassic World 4 already exists, and it was originally planned to be used for Jurassic Park 4. 2015's Jurassic World arrived 14 years after Jurassic Park III, but a follow-up to the 2001 release was supposed to be much earlier, and it was a straight-up sequel instead of a reboot. Jurassic Park 4 was slated for a 2005 release with Sam Neill reprising his role as Alan Grant .
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Filmmaker Joe Johnston, who directed Jurassic Park 3, and William Monahan, the award-winning screenwriter who wrote The Departed, were both attached to direct and write Jurassic Park 4. However, they both lost interest midway through development and following that, a revolving door of writers and directors joined the development with no headway.
Though the Jurassic Park sequels were doomed and the canceled Jurassic Park 4 idea sounds overly ambitious, fully realizing the concept is the logical next step after Jurassic World Dominion. However, the fourquel should still hold back a little, as the Jurassic Park 4 plot bizarrely followed dinosaurs hunting down drug dealers.
The Jurassic World Series Has Already Older Used Old Jurassic Park Ideas Every Jurassic World has made over $1 billion worldwide, but that's rather surprising given that it's made up of abandoned ideas that weren't good enough for Jurassic Park III. While developing Jurassic World III, a lot of ideas were thrown around, including a sequence involving a giant aquatic reptile, and a sequence involving evading raptors on motorbikes.
Jurassic World did borrow one thing from the development of the canceled Jurassic Park 4 too. During the development of the fourquel, a new mercenary character called Nick Harris was created. Harris was a mercenary who trained genetically modified Deinonychus. Chris Pratt plays Owen Grady in Jurassic World, and though he isn't a mercenary, he's a Navy veteran who trains genetically modified Velociraptors, which a very similar to Deinonychus.
