A problem with the distribution of live F1 tyre information triggered the GPS problem for teams that led to FP1 at the AustralianGP being red-flagged. Here's what happened ⬇️

after 40 minutes when it became clear that teams were unable to track cars on the circuit and as a result, there were several crash near-misses.It quickly became apparent that the lack of live GPS tracking was creating the main safety issue, with drivers unaware of cars appearing behind them at high speed or going slowly up ahead.

But Autosport has learned that the primary cause of the problem was not a failure of the GPS system F1 uses, as this remained active for the FIA's monitoring systems in race control. In turn, this scrambled the distribution network of several other data systems, including the GPS positioning information on its way to the teams.
