Barcelona's temporary move to Montjuic has not been without problems, but the club is happy with the new setup
The first Clasico at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys — ’s temporary home — was played at 4.15pm on Saturday, an unusual time for a match of its magnitude in Spain. The unusually high temperatures last weekend also meant the area around the stadium was full of people having picnics, with fans of all ages sunbathing on the tablecloths they had used for lunch. Others were already drinking beers — forbidden inside the stadium — before the big game.
These two factors contributed to a low take-up among some season ticket holders. Others were not thrilled by Barca increasing the price. Real Madrid beat Barca 2-1 in the season’s first Clasico In April, a 30-40 per cent increase in season ticket prices for this season was announced. Seeing the rejection it caused among the members, a month later they rectified it and made them even cheaper than the Camp Nou rates.
