House Democrats will introduce a resolution today condemning President Donald Trump's support for a lawsuit that would strike down Obamacare, according to draft text shared with us
The resolution is being introduced by Rep. Colin Allred , with the backing of House leadership. Democrats are planning to vote on it as soon as Tuesday, a spokesperson for Allred told POLITICO.The resolution and looming vote — which are largely symbolic, as Democrats seek to further pressure Republicans over health care — follows Trump's decision this week to
to throw out the entire Affordable Care Act. The Justice Department previously argued that parts of the law, like its protections for pre-existing conditions, should be struck down but that much of the law should be preserved.have warned that scrapping Obamacare with no replacement would harm millions of patients who depend on the law for their health coverage.
Meanwhile, Trump this week repeatedly pledged that Republicans would come up with a viable replacement for Obamacare — a promise that he's made for more than three years, dating back to his campaign for president.
