Despite there being heavy rain forecast for the end of the month, the Met Office believes it will be the warmest June ever recorded in the UK ☀️ But sorry to be the bearers of bad news, temperatures are set to return to their normal UK summer levels.
‘A cloudy day for most but turning brighter and fresher behind the rain band across Northern Ireland and Scotland.’Most of the country will get at least some rain over the next few days
On Thursday, a fragmented band of rain is expected to travel east across Wales and England, though some areas will have long spells of clear skies. And the possibly record-breaking month is forecast to end with a few outbreaks of rain and brisk wind around the country, while the sun makes brief appearances in between.
Speaking about June more generally, Mike Kendon of the Met Office said: ‘With only a few days of near-average temperatures forecast for the remainder of the month, overall this June will turn out to be provisionally the hottest June on record for the UK for both mean and average maximum temperature.’
He added: ‘What has been particularly unusual is the persistent warmth for much of the month, with temperatures reaching 25C widely for at least a fortnight, and at times 28 to 30C – whereas we would more typically expect maximum temperatures in the high teens or low 20s at this time of year.’
