A 38-year-old woman was killed Wednesday morning in Tacoma, and police are searching for any suspects.
Wed, March 27th 2024 at 12:47 PMTacoma Police Department officers were dispatched at 10:40 a.m. on March 27, 2024, to the 3000 block of Tacoma Avenue, where they found a 38-year-old woman who was killed. according to the Tacoma Police Department
. When they arrived, officers found an unresponsive woman and "initiated life-saving measures," the TPD said. "Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased by the Tacoma Fire Department," police said. Police said the incident occurred in front of a homeless encampment, but do not believe the woman is connected at all to it.
Detectives and crime scene technicians are on the scene and investigating the homicide, the TPD said. KOMO News interviewed a woman named Carrie, who lives in the aforementioned encampment. She shared that she met the woman who they called "Shakira" a few times. Carrie also said she believed the woman was homeless but not staying at the nearby encampment.At this time, police said they're calling this incident a homicide and not a shooting.
