Baldwin says he's excited to submit scripts for movies and TV after the film's success.
PUBLISHED 9:00 AM CDT May. 07, 2022AUSTIN, Texas — Texas author and playwright Steve Baldwin is most at home pounding away at his computer. Baldwin has written several books and lots of plays over the years.
Baldwin became deaf when he was young. He was already in his 30s when he started writing. Baldwin says what kick-started peoples’ interest in the deaf community was the 1986 film “Children of a Lesser God.” That was more than 35 years ago.That is, until this year’s Academy Awards. The film “Coda,” also about the deaf community, won three Oscars, including one for deaf actor Troy Kotsur. Baldwin credits the movie for a renewed interest in his community.
