Highland Wildlife Park in Scotland has revealed the names of the only two elk calves in the UK, with the adorable youngsters being named in honour of their father.
The safari park and zoo near Kingussie in the Highlands welcomed the two Eurasian elk calves on 16 May 2023.
According to Highland Wildlife Park, the female calf has been named Wren and the male calf has been named Goose. The names were chosen by keepers at the wildlife conservation charity.Wren and Goose were born to mother Ash, and are the pair's first calves. They are also the only UK elk calves anywhere in the UK."Chosen by our keepers, our female Eurasian elk calf has been named Wren and her brother has been named Goose! Bird-themed names were chosen with their dad, Raven, in mind.
