A part-time handyman could become part of the Highland Police Department’s staff, but on an on-call basis.
Minor things have started to break down in the seven-year-old Police Station, Highland Police Chief Ralph Potesta told the Town Council during its October 2 study session. So far, Assistant Police Chief Pat Vassar has been able to make many of the repairs — such fixing the access door to one of the interview rooms — but he won’t be there forever, Potesta said, and those expenses will start adding up.
The SRO is funded from a different line item, Herak said, and the department is just waiting for the School Town to authorize their part. The Town is also considering merging two of its redevelopment plans — and their corresponding allocation funds — into one bigger area.
