A historic barn from Anna, Texas will find a new home this summer at Allen Heritage Village.
The 1,650-square-foot barn was donated to the city by Richardson resident Robert Young. It was at risk of being demolished, the city said in a news release, and is around 130 years old.
Allen’s City Council approved a contract for $326,000 to disassemble, relocate, and reconstruct the barn at the city’s Heritage Village. The barn has agricultural and historic significance, according to the city. The barn is part of the city’s master plan for Allen Heritage Village, which is expected to be complete by 2023.
The funding will come from the Heritage Village project budget that was approved for funding by the Allen Community Development Corporation in 2020.
