Amazon’s “The Rings of Power” and HBO’s “House of the Dragon” serve very different purposes for their respective studios.

"We're never going to know if the Amazon series is successful," he said."They will never come out and give us metrics that are tied to revenue." "The Rings of Power" also has a huge baked-in audience. The six theatrical films tied to Tolkien's novels generated more than $5.8 billion at the global box office, and Amazon – which made its name as a bookseller, after all – saw a resurgence in interest in the author's texts earlier this year.
