Arlington residents can pick up a free tree next week in celebration of National Arbor Day.
The city’s forest and beautification team will pass out trees Thursday, March 10. The distribution will take place at Random Mill Park, 1901 W. Randol Mill Road, beginning at 8 a.m. while supplies last.
Various species of trees will be available in three- and five-gallon sizes. Trees are limited to two per household, and on-site registration will be required. A certified arborist will be on hand to answer questions.for more than 20 years for programs like the tree giveaway. The designation, which comes from the Arbor Day Foundation, recognizes urban and community forestry programs.
First recognized in 1872 in Nebraska, Arbor Day celebrates the preservation and planting of trees.
