A man handed a now-banned IPP sentence is back behind bars after threatening two women during a terrifying burglary.
READ MORE: Emotional scenes at memorial to teenager Nathaniel Shani on what would have been his 15th birthday Edwards, of Sale, did not commit any further offences until August last year, following a period of instability with his living arrangements due to the licence conditions of the IPP sentence. However, on August 14, he went round to the woman's house on Lloyds Avenue, in Altrincham, armed with a machete and demanded to speak to the owner, only to be told she wasn’t home.
“This is not simply an individual who wouldn’t engage with the work and respond to it. His position increases to a deeper level than anger management,” Judge Angela Nield said. “It is permeated by the personality disorder which is notoriously difficult to treat.” Mr McMeekin agreed that this was the ‘dilemma’ the court faced, due to the limitations of the IPP sentence provisions.
