Lewis Hamilton and Race Engineer, Peter ‘Bono’ Bonnington have been together at Mercedes for what is to be 11 years. Hamilton states the result of working together for this long is a brotherly bond that is “integral to his success”.
Hamilton and Bono have the current longest standing engineer-driver relationship in Formula 1. Since Hamilton first joined Mercedes in 2013, Bono has been his primary race engineer. The two have since won six world championships, eight constructors’ championships, and 82 race wins. The Brit spoke to F1 about his relationship with Bono and their years of working together.
