5 more years of GustavoDudamel at the helm of LAPhil
The 38-year-old Venezuelan conductor made his debut with the LA Philharmonic in 2005 and was named director in 2009.In a statement Dudamel thanked the Philharmonic’s board and said he is “full of expectation and energy as we open the next chapter of our artistic partnership.”
Throughout his career, Dudamel has stressed the importance of music education during appearances at the White House, United Nations and during a 2017 Nobel Prize Concert. With the LA Philharmonic he oversees live musical, dance and other artistic performances at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl and the Ford Theatre. He also heads arts education programs.
