Manchester City picked up their second win of the season at home to Newcastle and Foden was the standout performer.
Phil Foden hopes this season will present him with the chance to establish himself in the No.10 role after being told by Pep Guardiola to remain patient and work hard for his opportunity.
Foden started the game in his more natural attacking midfield role and got fans on their feet with every move. The England international was a constant danger and should have created more goals, had Erling Haaland found his shooting boots."I've always played there [central midfield] from a young age," Foden told TNT Sports. "It's a position that I hope I can move there in the future or maybe this season. We’ll have to see where the manager decides to play me.
"The manager spoke to me a few times and said ‘remain patient, you always train very good and work hard so you'll get your opportunity in the future’. Now I'm living up to that and I'm more than happy."
