Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke about keeping Mateo Kovacic on the pitch after two poor challenges
Pep Guardiola did not think of taking Mateo Kovacic off at half-time despite the midfielder nearly getting a red card.
Minutes later, Kovacic caught Declan Rice late but while Oliver deemed it worthy of a foul he decided against a card and VAR cannot intervene for a possible yellow card offence. The Croatian stayed on the pitch and, to even more surprise, stayed on past the break despite Guardiola's known annoyance at players who flirt with a red card; John Stones eventually replaced him in the 68th minute.
