A gig venue in Wigan has been given permanent protected status by the ‘National Trust of music venues’ in a first-of-its-kind initiative.

For local artists just starting in the music scene, these venues can prove to be important in making a name for themselves.
“Without these venues would any of us have been able to make music for a living? Would Ed Sheeran have sold out 11 nights at Wembley Stadium? If we invest in grassroots venues to help performers learn their craft it will be repaid, Ed has shown that many times over. Singer Jennifer King, 16, has also frequented the stage at the Snug. The former The Voice Kids contestant recently launched her single, Go, at the venue and has also backed the scheme. “The Snug is a supportive environment, so I want to support them too,” she explained.
