Jesus I. Vargas, 29, appeared in court for an initial appearance on two counts of the first-degree murder of Brian Mahdee, 37, of Round Lake Beach.
After hearing a brief description of the alleged crime, Judge Theodore Potkonjak ordered Vargas held in lieu of $3 million bail.
A witness told police that Vargas and Mahdee arrived together at the residence, and that they and the witness were in the garage.
