The MSL-Ohio is slated to be reorganized into the CBL in August, but the move won’t include the Grandview and Worthington Christian football programs.
in August, but the move won’t include the Grandview Heights and Worthington Christian football programs, Bobcats athletics director Brad Bertani and Warriors football coach Jeff Hartings said.
The Bobcats and Warriors will play an independent schedule in football but still will compete in other sports with league members Bexley, Buckeye Valley, Columbus Academy, Ready and Whitehall-Yearling. Columbus School for Girls also will compete in female sporting events. Worthington Christian currently competes in the MSL-Cardinal for football and in the MSL-Ohio for other sports. The Warriors finished 8-4 overall this season and won the MSL-Cardinal at 6-0."Primarily the reason is to put kids in a competitive situation against schools with a similar roster size,” Bertani said. “That would be in the 25 to 35 range instead of playing against schools that have rosters of 60-plus players.
Bertani said the Bobcats did not have any problems filling a 10-game football schedule. He would not release the complete 2023 schedule because some of the contracts have yet to be finalized, but he confirmed the Bobcats will play Bexley and Worthington Christian and two opponents from this season in Centennial and Northridge.
Grandview beat Centennial 46-19 on Aug. 18 and Northridge 20-13 on Sept. 2. The Bobcats lost to Bexley 19-13 in overtime Oct. 21.
