The High Court has ruled the government’s plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda is lawful. The scheme is supposed to deter people from trying to cross the English Channel to reach the UK on small boats. Anja_Popp reports.
The government’s plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda was supposed to deter people from trying to cross the Channel to reach the UK on small boats.But the first flight to the east African country in June was grounded after legal challenges.
Today, though, senior judges ruled the policy was lawful and Home Secretary Suella Braverman said she was “committed” to making it work.
