"In a perfect world, you'd love to have passenger rail in the state of Ohio," DeWine said."The question is: What is the cost going to be?"DeWine said he doesn't yet have that answer from federal officials. Another factor, DeWine said, is how quickly Ohioans could travel from city to city, and whether that would encourage people to take the train instead of driving.

"If they can do it in the same amount of time that it takes to drive a car, it might be competitive, but if it's going to take longer, that ridership is going to drop off," he said.DeWine didn't reveal whether he would sign or vetoHe commended lawmakers for addressing"substantive problems" with earlier versions of the proposed legislation, then said:"The last two secretaries of state have both said that we have a very good system in the state of Ohio.
