She was interviewing Insulate Britain activist Tracey Mallaghan.
She further explained that her animosity towards Osborne stemmed from his “denial” of climate change and “terrible media messaging”, stating her belief that his policies as an MP led to “330,000 deaths of the country’s most vulnerable people.”
Reid subsequently challenged her guest, saying that Osborne wasn’t “personally responsible for the deaths”, and asked the guest to tell her and co-host Ed Balls about the climate change facts. “What happened with what, darling?” replied Mallaghan, with Reid taking umbrage at the word and saying: “Sorry, you don’t need to call me darling.” The activist subsequently put the remark down to her being “working class.”
