Brewster and Stephenson don’t question Giovanni’s proposition; they find purpose in it. Her words become a statement of intention , a warning and a rejection of formal conventions . In that last question, Giovanni is whispering back to Audre Lorde, the poet who coined the term biomythography to describe her book, a text that combined biography, history and myth to tell a more accurate story of her life.
