General Motors Co. GM announced Monday plans to invest more than $1 billion to prepare two of its Flint, Mich. plants for production of “next-generation” internal combustion engine heavy-duty trucks. The two manufacturing sites are Flint Assembly, at G 3100 Vanslyke Road, and Flint Metal Center, at G-2238 Bristol Road.

The automaker will invest $788 million in the Flint Assembly plant to assemble the ICE trucks and $233 million in the Flint Metal Center to for new stamping dies to support production of the trucks.
