rightly points out, Tesla doesn’t have a network of dealers. While it does have its own service centers, they aren’t as numerous as GM dealers across the nation. That, in part, may be one reason that many Tesla customers have reported long wait times for service appointments.
It’s worth noting that Reuss didn’t go into detail about exactly what services GM Dealers are performing on Tesla vehicles – though, we’ve reached out to GM for more information and will update this story if we hear back. We also don’t know how many are no longer under warranty with Tesla. In addition, many deeper functions are things that only Tesla service centers can affect. But that doesn’t mean that this revenue stream isn’t a big win for both sides.
