But in his State of the City address Wednesday, Mayor Todd Gloria said the city still has many problems that can’t be solved quickly — especially homelessness and crumbling roads.

San Diego is on pace to double the number of miles of repaved roads this fiscal year compared to each of the two previous fiscal years. When resurfacing efforts are added in, the city is on pace to repair 283 miles of road this fiscal year. Gloria also highlighted efforts by his administration to overcome bureaucratic obstacles so that small but important neighborhood infrastructure projects can get completed.
The mayor also vowed to keep pursuing two proposals from last year’s State of the City speech that he didn’t get across the finish line.
