Mysterious tannoys in Glasgow city centre have been the subject of some hilarious online chat as folk ask what they are used for, with others suggesting everything from public alerts to announcing an alien invasion.
Mysterious tannoys erected on city centre buildings have been the subject of significant debate in Glasgow lately.
The tannoys we know of are located on Buchanan Street and Gordon Street, sitting on buildings above The Ivy, Cath Kidston, Tiso and Ray Ban. The post received 180 comments with people speculating the purpose of the mysterious objects. Some said they are to alert passers-by of emergency incidents or to evacuate the area, a few said it was very "big brother" like and there were also a few conspiracists suggesting they've been fitted to announce the invasion of aliens or to purely "scare off" pigeons.
