Councillors have approved recommendations to share funding for October this year and Spring 2024 between third sector groups
Plans to provide food and activities for children during school holidays have been agreed — after a summer programme suffered a Scottish Government funding cut.
“We took a decision, because of the short timescale that was available to us, that we agreed to pay the same organisations that we funded last year and to pay them the same amount of money.” Cllr Bell added: “The delay by the Scottish Government in announcing that money has had wider operational impacts than just the summer programme and it will affect our approach to October and to the spring programmes.”
He added the Scottish Government is “keen to look at how we can use this programme as part of a wraparound childcare service”. “Clearly that would involve them putting significantly more money into the pot.”
