A prisoner who was accused of dragging a pensioner down a flight of stairs inside a church has been found dead in custody.
Reston stood trial back in 2022 after being accused of the assault and robbery of an 81-year-old woman at a church.He and his co-defendant allegedly attacked Mary McIlhinney at Church for Christian Brethren in Glasgow's Anniesland on January 12, 2020. Court papers state the pair seized hold of her bag and dragged her down a flight of stairs to her injury.A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: "Richard Reston, 46, a prisoner at HMP Barlinnie has died on 29 April 2023.
