CHATTAHOOCHEE COUNTY, GA — A Georgia man has been indicted for the 1982 murder of an Arizona military woman.
On April 29, 1982, U.S. Army Private Blackmore disappeared upon leaving her barracks at Fort Benning, GA to travel to Richland, GA.Then on June 28, 1982, Blackmore's remains were discovered off a logging road a few miles further south in Chattahoochee County. She was killed by a shotgun blast, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
In late 2020, GBI Director Vic Reynolds established the agency’s Cold Case Unit composed of retired GBI investigators.
