GameofThrones fans slam Jon and Tyrion after they betray Varys, protector of the realm
Twitter users are questioning those who support Daenerys Targeryan, the once golden leader of Game of Thrones is now a vengeance-filled tyrant. Two characters from the show in particular, Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow, caught heat from social media users after Daenerys killed a long-time leading character on Sunday’s episode.
In the first half of the episode, Daenerys set her dragon on Varys, who was seen sharing the news of Jon’s rightful claim to the Iron Throne via telegraph. Tyrion then told Daenerys of a conversation he witnessed between Jon and Varys, in which Varys asked Jon to consider claiming the throne as his own. The conversation foreshadowed the potential of Daenerys turning into a violent ruler, a position that takes after her own, disgraced father.
Later in the episode, Daenerys did, in fact, turn into a mad leader. Though the warriors of King’s Landing surrendered to her rule, she burnt the city to a crisp, including murdering innocent citizens. The anger Daenerys showed followed Varys' worries directly, and Twitter users were quick to point that out in a series of memes that both honored his death and his advice, as well as slammed Jon and Tyrion for their support of the mad Queen.
Some used the content from Sunday’s episode to predict a final fall of Daenerys. A handful of viewers claimed Arya Stark will be the one to kill Daenerys in order to secure a safer future for the people of Westeros. Arya is a fair candidate, because she’s been known to pull off impressive kills in the past, like that of the Night King, but also because she saw the disaster of King’s Landing and its innocent citizens first hand.
