CLEVELAND, Ohio – Frontier Airlines is expanding its route map from Cleveland this summer, adding new nonstop flights to Philadelphia and Dallas-Fort Worth, starting in June.With these two additions, Frontier will be flying to a total of 14 destinations from Cleveland in 2022.
Frontier’s expansion announcement comes a month after the carrier revealed plans to merge with low-cost competitor Spirit Airlines. That merger, however, will take months to complete – and until then, the two airlines are operating independently.Serving just over 1 million passengers in 2021, Frontier was the fourth-largest carrier at Cleveland Hopkins in 2021, after United, American and Delta airlines.
Said Frontier spokesperson Jennifer de la Cruz, “We are constantly evaluating our route network and looking for opportunities where there are either unserved or underserved destinations where consumers would benefit from our ultra-low fares.” The Philadelphia flights will run depart from CLE at 6:57 p.m., arriving in PHL at 8:31 p.m. The return flights will leave PHL at 4:34 p.m., landing in CLE at 6:12 p.m.
