He filmed the first series in Preston, but plans for a second have now been scrapped
Top Gear presenter Freddie Flintoff will not return for a new series of a BBC show after he suffered serious injuries in a crash.
The Preston-born cricket legend was airlifted to hospital with facial injuries and broken ribs at the crash at Dunsford Aerodrome in Surrey last December. The 45-year-old hasn't been seen in public since. Freddie had originally planned to film a second series of his BBC show Field of Dreams this spring but these plans have now reportedly been scrapped. It's been reported the production crew have been alerted of the change with filming being postponed until the Top Gear presenter has recovered fully from the horror car crash he was involved in last December.
The first series of Field of Dreams saw Freddie form a cricket team of youngsters from his home city Preston with the aim of proving that the sport is not just for posh people. More than 3.3 million viewers tuned in to see the team take on an elite private school and veterans. In February BBC producers reportedly emailed Top Gear contributors to inform them that filming has been 'pushed back' as presenter Freddie Flintoff continues to recover from the crash. The message adds: “However, we have now pushed filming back. We don’t have a date in mind at the moment.”
