Four-star in-state shooting guard Dorian Jones is the first commitment of Ohio State's 2025 basketball recruiting class.
Jones is the No. 72 overall prospect and No. 12 shooting guard in the 247Sports composite rankings and is considered the second-best baller from the Buckeye State. He selected Ohio State over finalists Michigan, Rutgers and Missouri.As a junior in 2023-24, Jones earned first-team All-Ohio honors in D-IV while leading his Cleveland-based high school, Richmond Heights, to a state championship. Jones averaged 14.1 points per game.
Ohio State was among the first schools to offer Jones, who took his official visit to Columbus in May. Jones has earned over two dozen scholarship offers in total, with the likes of Arizona State, Cincinnati, Dayton, Miami , Penn State and Texas A&M joining his four finalists. Jones also got a chance to showcase his skills against some of the nation's best for team All-Ohio Red on Nike's Elite Youth Basketball League circuit this summer, averaging 7.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
While his commitment is the first for Jake Diebler in the class of 2025, the Buckeyes do hold a five-star pledge from class of 2026 guardJones is the first of what the Buckeyes hope is a wave of Ohio-based talent for the 2025 class.
