A remarkable cast.
David Goyer brought Isaac Asimov's epic science-fiction stories to life, and the Apple TV+ Foundation cast is led by an exceptional slate of actors. Asimov is one of the founding fathers of science fiction, and his Foundation series of novels and short stories became the inspiration for countless other science fiction. And yet, no adaptation of Foundation has met with success.
Lee Pace as Brother Day Lee Pace's Foundation character is Brother Day. If Foundation is a grand game of chess, then the Emperor is Hari Seldon's opposite number. The Emperors aren't really fleshed out as characters in Asimov's works, but David Goyer has introduced the idea they are a "genetic dynasty," with clones of Emperor Cleon ensuring — they believe — consistency of rule. As a clone, this ensured Pace could continue on with the role as the years went by.
Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk Terrence Mann joins the cast of Foundation as Brother Dusk. When an Emperor becomes too old to reign, they step aside for their successor and become "Brother Dusk." The concept is unique, created by Goyer as part of his plan to put a consistent face to the Empire, and Terrence Mann brings Brother Dusk to life. Mann faces the same challenges as Lee Pace, playing multiple iterations of the same character.
Chipo Chung As The Voice Of The Deliverance Operating System Chipo Chung plays the voice of the Deliverance in the Foundation cast. The Deliverance is the slow ship that carries Hari Seldon to colonize the planet Terminus. Chung is a Zimbabwean actor who got her start in theater work. On the big screen, she had roles in Sunshine, as the voice of Icarus II, and in the political satire In the Loop.
Reece Shearsmith as Jerril: Reece Shearsmith's Foundation character is Jerril, an Imperial agent during Cleon XII's reign. Shearsmith is an English actor who is best known for his role in The League of Gentlemen. He also wrote and starred in Psychoville and the anthology series Inside No. 9. He has also worked with Edgar Wright on the TV series Spaced and the movie The World's End.
Kubbra Sait as Grand Huntress Phara Keaen: Kubbra Sait joins the cast of Foundation as Phara Keaen, the top military officer of Anacreon who personally leads a raid on Terminus. Sait is an Indian actor who gained her biggest acclaim for her role as Kukoo in the Netflix series Sacred Games. Christian Contreras as Commander Dorwin: Christian Contreras plays Commander Dorwin in the Foundation cast, an Imperial soldier sent to investigate the loss of contact with Terminus. Contreras was born in Belize and is married to Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker. On the big screen, he has appeared in Zero Dark Thirty and Snowden while on TV, his credits include Breeders and The Man Who Fell to Earth.
Sandra Yi Sencindiver as Enjoiner Rue Corintha: Sandra Yi Sencindiver's Foundation character is Enjoiner Rue Corintha, Sareth's retainer & advisor. Sencindiver is a Korean actor who was adopted into the United States and began training to become an actor in Denmark. She has appeared in The Wheel of Time TV series as Lady Amalisa and starred on The Bridge as Susanne.
