Fortnite's Attack on Titan crossover arrives in v24.20 update, out now
Epic Games has dropped the latest v24.20 patch for battle royale shooter Fortnite, including a crossover with hit anime series Attack on Titan as part of the game’s latest update with plenty of new toys for fans to play with.
The headline arrival in this latest update is the addition of ODM Gear and Thunder Spears to the game. The former is a ‘new’ type of traversal system – somewhat similar to the grapple mechanic introduced in previous Chapters – but this time using the Omni-Directional Mobility equipment from the hit anime. It differs slightly to that mechanic though, as the packs come with built in blades that will boost you back into the air after a successful strike.
If you prefer something more explosive, the Thunder Spears are arm-mounted rocket launchers, that’ll do major damage to anything – or anyone – unlucky enough to be caught in the blast radius. Both the spears and the ODM Gear can be found on the ground, in chests or in new Scout Regiment Footlockers you’ll now see dotted around the island.
Other changes include a new location – Jaeger’s Family Basement – and of course some new outfits based on the Attack on Titan series. These include Eren Jager – who’s in the and also gets their own quests – but also two more characters are available in the store in the form of Captain Levi and Mikasa Ackermann. Naturally, each of the two latter outfits also come with their own Back Bling.Elsewhere, this patch includes a few more minor changes – Dirt Bikes have been unvaulted, as has the Port-A-Bunker in Zero Build mode. There’s a new Rare rarity Kinetic Blade too, which has only two Dash chargers as opposed to the existing Epic rarity version.
