Former Seton Hall star Jerry Walker has helped launch an NIL collective in hopes of making the school 'competitive'
Former Seton Hall star Jerry Walker is part of a new NIL collective aimed at helping his alma mater be "competitive" in that space.star Jerry Walker is tired of seeing many of New Jersey’s top high school basketball recruits leave the state because of lucrative Name, Image and LIkeness deals.
In an effort to make his alma mater more “competitive” in the NIL space, Walker and fellow Seton Hall alums Mike Frungillo and Matt Regan last week launched thewith a mission of empowering Seton Hall University student-athletes by providing them with education, resources, and opportunities to amplify their Name, Image, and Likeness profiles and secure NIL deals.”
“I want to try and help them with NIL and particularly Seton Hall because it’s about money now. I think the NCAA owes me a couple dollars, i gotta tell you,” he added with a laugh., Walker added: “Seton Hall is a small institution and we don’t have a Vitamin Water guy or we don’t have these other guys so we all gotta chip in and do our part.”
Seton Hall has had a long history of recruiting 2-, 3 and sometimes 4-star players and coaching them up to be competitive in the Big East, but Walker is concerned that those players can then turn around and transfer to the highest NIL bidder.
