Former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott is returning to the Dallas Cowboys after one year with the New England Patriots.
The former Ohio State running back has agreed to a one-year deal with the Cowboys, bringing him back to the team he’s spent most of his NFL career with.Selected by the Cowboys with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, Elliott spent his first seven NFL seasons in Dallas before a one-year stint with the New England Patriots. In his previous seven years with the team, Elliott ran for 8,262 yards and 68 touchdowns.
Elliott was released by the Cowboys last offseason, four years into a six-year, $90 million contract. The Cowboys had a need for a veteran running back this season after losing Tony Pollard in free agency to the Tennessee Titans, however, and chose to fill that void with a familiar face. Elliott comes to the Cowboys with a lower price tag this time around after rushing for only 642 yards and three touchdowns on 184 attempts – all career-lows – last season.
