A former Lonoke County police officer faces charges after accepting donations for medical expenses that investigators say never existed.
Eric Caffey, a former England police sergeant, accepted donations from community members and schools beginning in 2021 to cover his expenses after he was allegedly diagnosed with cancer, the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office says it was determined Caffey lied about this diagnosis and collected several thousands of dollars.
