He’ll make plays when the defense opens up more so the Cowboys can throw deep passes his way. So Cooks will continue to work underneath and in some cases allow Michael Gallup and CeeDee Lamb to make plays in the passing game.Defenses have protected the deep end of the field, limiting Cooks’ abilities for long throws that take advantage of his speed.“That alone is helping our offense in my mind,” Cooks said after Thursday’s practice. “It’s opening up other guys to eat and be successful.
“I try to be really that voice,” he said. “I get the past is one thing, there’s obviously a lot of feelings from that naturally but this is a new year and regardless of good or bad it don’t matter what you did last year. It’s about the moment and I try to be that voice. ‘Hey it’s a new year its going to be us.’ Not to overdo it and everything and not let emotions get in the way.”Cooks was added as another playmaker to the offense.
