A footballer who died after being stabbed on a nightclub dancefloor on Boxing Day has been named by police
as his heartbroken family paid tribute to him.
“We are devastated to hear this awful news,” the account tweeted on Tuesday afternoon. “Our thoughts are with his family & friends at this difficult time.” An 18-year-old man from Wolverhampton, who did not want to be named, said the incident was a “disaster waiting to happen”. The Crane cancelled its New Year’s Eve event in light of the incident and said it was working closely with police as they continue to investigate.
