DeSantis and Vance are scheduled to appear together at a 6 p.m. event on Friday, Aug. 19 in Youngstown at the Blue Wolf Events Center.
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, widely considered a top potential Republican presidential contender in 2024, is planning a stop in Ohio later this month to stump for J.D. Vance, the GOP nominee for this year’s Ohio’s U.S. Senate race.
Vance is running against Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan, from the Niles area, in the November election to replace retiring Republican Sen. Rob Portman. In a news release, Turning Point Action billed the Youngstown event as a “Unite and Win” rally, part of a string of events in which DeSantis also will stump for Republican candidates backed by ex-President Donald Trump in Arizona and New Mexico.
