A new study that surveyed 2,000 UK adults has revealed the most 'Instagrammable' locations across the nation, and three Scottish spots are featured in the top five.
The most 'Instagrammable' destinations in the UK have been revealed - and five Scottish beauty spots are included. The results come from a survey that asked 2,000 adults to name the most social media-worthy locations around the nation.
It is renowned for its rugged scenery, stunning fishing villages, and spectacular wildlife, while its capital Portree is home to a scenic harbour and plenty of tasty food spots. With 51 per cent of respondents putting beautiful landscapes at the top of their priorities when travelling within the UK, it is no surprise that Skye placed so highly on the list.
The Orkney archipelago rounds out the top five, famous for its long days, light nights, and fascinating history. Some of the most scenic spots on the islands include the Skara Brae Prehistoric Village, the rugged Old Man of Hoy sea stack, and the neolithic Standing Stones of Stenness. According to the research, unspoilt natural backgrounds, a sunrise or sunset, and a lack of other people around are also key for holidaymakers looking to take the best shots for social media, with adults taking an average of 15 photos per trip.
