First Lady Jill Biden will spend Mother's Day in Slovakia with Ukrainian mothers and children who have fled their homes.

is spending her Mother's Day with the Ukrainian mothers and children that have been displaced from their homes during the Russian invasion of their country.

Dr. Biden will travel to Romania and Slovakia on Thursday for a five-day trip during which she will visit with American service members, embassy personnel, and humanitarian aid workers, as well as Ukrainian refugees. The First Lady's trip is set to begin at the Mihail Kogalniceau Airbase in Romania, a base for NATO Response Force troops, where she will meet with service members before traveling on to Bucharest, according to the White House.

On Saturday, she will also meet with members of the Romanian government, U.S. embassy staff, humanitarian aid workers and “educators who are helping teach displaced Ukrainian children and incorporate them into a stable and safe school environment.” The White House also confirmed that her Mother's Day will be spent in Košice and Vyšné Nemecké, Slovakia “with Ukrainian mothers and children who have been forced to flee their home country because of [Vladimir] Putin's war.
